CHAPTER-2 FAMILIAR FEELING

Siddarth's POV

We arrived at VS Jewellers, where my PA spoke with the receptionist about our appointment. She guided us to the meeting room and said she would inform the person meeting us. Just then, my mom called, and I answered.
"Hello, Mamma. What happened that you called me? Did something happen to Uncle?"
"Hello, Beta ji. Nothing happened to him; he is alright. We returned home, and further treatment and surgery will be scheduled after his son comes back next week. I called to congratulate you on getting the contract."
"How do you know I got the contract?"
"Hmm, Beta. I am your mother. I know everything about you."
"Mummy, no jokes."

Shweta Kapoor POV
I can't joke with him, nor can I attempt to be mysterious. If he notices or hears something mysterious, he feels compelled to solve it; otherwise, he can't sit still. Sometimes, I wonder how he will ever get married. What kind of bad luck will his partner have to marry such a boring person?
**Shweta Kapoor POV Ends **

*NOTE - IT'S HER THOUGHTS NOT AUTHOR'S THOUGHTS. LIKE EVERY INDIAN MOM SHE IS WORRIED ABOUT HIS SON'S MARRIAGE.

"Mummy, hello? Are you listening to what I'm saying?"
"Yes, I am listening. I was just thinking about something."

"What are you thinking tell me? "

"I was thinking you were not funny at all. How will you get married like this? About how I know about the contract. Your papa's assistant called him and told him about it. But he is resting after coming back from the hospital. So, I attended the call that's how I know. Anyway, where are you? When will you be home?"

At that moment, the door opened, and a person entered.
"Not again, Mummy. I don't want to marry anyone right now. To answer your question I came to VS Jewellers to select jewellery designs for Didi's birthday gift. Please, I beg you keep it secret from Di."
Before I turned to face the newcomer, my PA, sounding a bit frustrated, asked, "Where is Mr. Arora? Who are you?" The person introduced herself, "Welcome to VS Jewellers. I regret to inform you that Mr Arora is unable to attend the meeting due to an urgent personal matter. My name is Khushi Singh, and I am an Assistant Designer. I will be presenting the latest designs for your review."
I said, "Bye, Mummy. The designer has arrived. I need to go and see the designs." She replied, "Okay, don't worry I'll keep this secret from her. Bye, Beta. See you at home."
My PA responded, "Okay, I am the PA of Mr. Siddarth Kapoor. My name is Rohit Mittal. It's nice to meet you, Miss Khushi Singh. I will check with my boss to see if he wants to continue the meeting." She replied, "Nice to meet you too, Mr. Mittal. Please go ahead."
Then Rohit turned to me and asked, "Sir, should we continue the meeting?" I replied, "Why would we come here for nothing? If she behaves like that girl, she will be fired. We will never do business with VS Jewellers." He nodded in agreement.
I glanced at her, scrutinizing her from head to toe. She looked somewhat familiar, but I couldn't place where I had seen her. Never mind; it didn't matter. She introduced herself again, "Good evening, Sir. I'm Assistant Designer Khushi Singh. I'll be the one presenting the latest designs."
"Good evening, I'm Siddarth Kapoor," I replied a bit curtly, recalling the last incident. I put my phone on the table.
"Sure, Sir," she said.
She invited me to take a seat, and we began the meeting. She explained, "Based on what you shared with our designer, Mr. Arora has created some designs." She then presented the designs and explained each one in detail, adding, "I hope you like the designs. If you would like any changes, please let me know."
She demonstrated professionalism throughout the meeting. Despite my initial impression, I sensed she wasn't like other girls. Yet, it felt too early to judge; perhaps she was just acting. I couldn't shake off the familiar feelings stirring within me; it was my first time experiencing this with a girl, and it left me quite confused.
She then asked, "If you have any concerns, please let me know, sir. If you don't like the design, we can change the jewellery." Her tone was flat, lacking expression or emotion. I knew I had to navigate the situation delicately.
I replied, "It's just that I'm uncertain whether my elder sister will like it." Thankfully, it was an excuse I could use since I couldn't express how I truly felt.
She then inquired, "What kind of person is your sister? That way, I can suggest a design that would suit her."
"Simple, elegant, beautiful, and sometimes mischievous," I answered.
"Alright, sir. Let me show you something. Perhaps you will like it," she said.
After showing me the design, I remarked, "Perfect, I like it. I'm sure my Didi will also like it. Can you create it within the next two weeks?"
"Okay, no problem, sir. I will ask our designer to create it as soon as possible," she responded.
After wrapping up the meeting, we exchanged firm handshakes, a sign of mutual respect, before I exited the room. As I approached my car, I suddenly realized I had left my phone behind. I retraced my steps towards the lift. However, one lift was out of service for maintenance, and the other was stopped on the upper floor. So, I decided to take the stairs to the parking lot, reminding myself it was also good for my health.
When I reached the bottom floor, I heard someone call my name, causing me to pause and turn around to see who had called me.
